In their divorce, Johansson and Dauriac disagree on child custody

In a child custody agreement, it's fairly common for parents to have fundamental disagreements over whom the child should live with and how the child should be brought up. But what if one parent plans to go to a different country after the separation? How should it be handled when that parent requests to have custody of the child in another country? This is a question many people in Miami may have to grapple with due to the international and cosmopolitan nature of the area's population.

One of Hollywood's hottest actresses may herself be facing international child custody issues. Scarlett Johansson filed for divorce from her husband on March 7 and has requested that the couple's young daughter live with her.

Johansson's husband, Romain Dauriac, is a native of France. Dauriac's lawyer told a reporter that Dauriac's plan was to have the daughter live with him in Paris. The attorney expressed surprise about Johansson's custody proposal because, according to him, Dauriac is the primary parent for the daughter while Johansson pursued her cinematic career. The lawyer said that his client was willing to allow visitation with Johansson in Paris whenever she was there.

The divorce case will be heard in the United States, meaning that the family law court will resolve this custody dispute keeping the best interests of the child in mind. In a potentially contentious situation such as this one, each party would be well-advised to seek experienced legal representation in order to effectively advocate their position to the family law court.
